John W. Graham Muster Rolls, 1862-1863

John Washington Graham of Hillsborough,N.C., was the son of William Alexander Graham (1804-1875) and Susannah SarahWashington Graham (1816-1890). He served as captain and major in the 56th NorthCarolina Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. After the war, he was OrangeCounty, N.C., solicitor, 1866-1868; delegate to the North Carolina ConstitutionalConvention of 1868; five-time state senator, 1868-1872, 1876, 1907-1908, 1911;railroad trustee; and lawyer. The collection consists of six muster rolls of Company Dof the 56th North Carolina Infantry Regiment, 1862-1863.
